A National Day of Mourning commemorating the death of President George H.W. Bush has been declared for Wednesday, December 5, 2018. Many exchanges, including U.S. stock and bond markets, will be closed for trading. Operational considerations associated with this closing are noted below.

Expiring Options:
SPY option holders have until 9:00 a.m. ET on December 5, 2018, to provide contrary exercise instructions; otherwise long options in-the-money by $0.01 or more AT expiration will be automatically exercised by the OCC. Instructions must be provided by this deadline, via the Message Center in Account Management, if accounts wish to provide contrary exercise instructions
The last trading date for SPY options expiring December 5, 2018, will be December 4, 2018. These contracts will be subject to margin up until the time OCC has completed its expiration settlement processing. Based upon available information, margin is expected to be released on December 6, 2018.
The final settlement value for vix weekly options with an expiration date of December 5, 2018, will be determined by Special Opening Quotation (SOQ) one day later than normal, on December 6, 2018. These contracts will be subject to margin up until that final settlement price has been determined.
S&P 500 (SPX) and Mini-S&P 500 (XSP) option series with an expiration date of December 5, 2018, will close AT 4:00 p.m. ET on December 4, 2018. All other non-expiring SPX and XSP series will continue to trade until 4:15 p.m. ET December 4, 2018.
Corporate Action / Ex-Dividend Date
All U.S. corporate actions set for December 5, 2018, will occur on December 6, 2018.
All U.S. stocks which would normally have been ex-dividend on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, (record date of Thursday, December 6, 2018), shall be ex-dividend on Thursday, December 6, 2018.
