Index and Commodity Futures
This section covers scalping and day trading on US indices—Nasdaq (NQ), S&P 500 (ES), Dow Jones (YM), Russell 2000 (RTY), and their micros—as well as commodities: gold, silver, copper, WTI crude oil, natural gas, and grains. Each market’s specifics, its active sessions, and its typical behavior. I approach them as an active trader since 1994. I trade only the Nasdaq future myself, the NQ and its micro version (MNQ), but I follow all of these contracts in my session analyses: what makes each product distinctive, where it traps the beginner, and how to adapt your read from one instrument to the next. The articles review these markets one by one, from the most heavily traded contract to the most technical.
