What others say about us

On Andlil I write a great deal about other people: central bankers, ruined traders, Newton losing a fortune in 1720. It seemed only fair, for once, to give the floor to those who talk about us. Here is what has been said elsewhere, each time with a link to the source — you do not have to take my word for it, which is precisely the point. Most of these sources are French; quotations are translated.

Interviews

  • VideoBourse came to see me at home in Andorra in April 2018: trading, lifestyle, performance, projects. Watch the interview. A new interview followed in 2024, “Benoist Rousseau: a trader’s life”, also released as a podcast. Listen to the episode.
  • Avenue des Investisseurs (2018), “A communist trader? Interview with Benoist Rousseau, Andlil”: “He also runs the Andlil blog and a YouTube channel where he shares his trading and his advice.” Read the interview.
  • France Bourse (19 June 2019): “Benoist Rousseau is one of the best-known independent traders in the French-speaking world.” The witness is not entirely neutral: the questions are asked by Jean-David Haddad, my publisher. Watch the interview.
  • Espace-trading, the podcast “An introduction to Forex trading” (27 October 2019), episode 15: “Trading psychology with Benoist Rousseau, scalper”, an hour-long interview. Listen to the episode.
  • RTS, Swiss public radio (2 November 2012): a report by Estelle Braconnier on online trading scams, in which I am interviewed alongside the spokesman of Finma, the Swiss financial regulator. Listen to the report.
  • Europe 1 (7 May 2013), “Europe 1 midi”: “Trader-hunting season is open”. Around the table: an economist from the Parti de Gauche, the editor-in-chief of Boursier.com, and the trader, so that he could be hunted on the spot. Listen to the programme.
  • TV Finance (May 2015): “The traders’ multiplex”, several programmes. Watch a programme.
  • Le Manal Show (16 December 2019), episode 75: “The psychology of a trader who (really) succeeds”. Listen to the episode.
  • Raphaël Leblond, on his YouTube channel: “Interview with Benoist Rousseau on his scalping method”. Watch the video.

Every week, the Chicago exchanges publish the list of seats changing hands. Mine appears in May 2024: at the Chicago Board of Trade (bulletin 24-MB-056) and at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (bulletin 24-MB-058).

At trade shows

Andlil is an exhibitor and partner of the Salon de l’Analyse Technique et du Trading, where I have given several talks. See the show’s page. One attendee left this account on the ProRealCode forum in March 2017: “Scalping method on the DAX by Benoist Rousseau of the ANDLIL blog: interesting.” A single word, but well chosen. Read the account.

I was also invited three times to the Nuit du Trading organised by IG in Paris: in 2014 to talk about community trading (the programme, on BFM), in 2015 (the announcement by Café de la Bourse) and in 2017, at the Salle Wagram (the speakers’ page). In between came an online DailyFX conference on scalping the DAX and the Dow Jones, in October 2015 (the announcement, on Bourse Direct).

In the press

  • Libération (11 August 2011), “Market volatility… as seen by a small-time investor”, by Elodie Auffray: the newspaper describes my scalps in the middle of a stock-market storm, with a screenshot of the blog. Nearly two hundred comments followed, not all of them affectionate; I replied to them here (in French). Read the article.
  • Bilan, the Swiss business magazine (7 January 2013), “The internet killed Virgin Megastore”: the article quotes my analysis of the digital economy, published in Atlantico. Read the article.
  • Investir – Les Echos (13 February 2013), a Dow Jones newswire: Andlil’s analysis of Total’s likely return to the top of the French market capitalisations. Read the dispatch.
  • Boursier.com (2 October 2014) profiles the experts of the Binck Traders’ Cup, including this one: “Benoist Rousseau, proprietary trader”. Read the profile.
  • BFM (12 October 2015), “Mergers and acquisitions are booming worldwide (but not in France)”: the article quotes my analysis, published on Andlil, of mergers and acquisitions as a leading indicator of growth. Read the article.
  • France Transactions (27 February 2018), “What if the proprietary trader were just a modern-day communist?”, by Denis Lapalus, on the release of my book. Read the article.

  • Challenges (17 March 2022, issue 734, Economy section): Andlil appears in the magazine’s table of ten economics influencers, with this description: “A blogger and YouTuber, Benoist Rousseau draws on his background as an experienced trader.” The magazine cited me again in its ranking of French influencers in April 2023. See the 2023 ranking.
  • Le Revenu (13 May 2022), “Trading: should you trust influencers?”. The magazine talks about my channel; I talk rather about “a simple, active community of enthusiasts”. Read the article.
  • Capital announces my talks at the Salon de l’Analyse Technique, in 2023 for the release of a book, then in 2024.
  • ActuaLitté (1 August 2025), “Books for understanding the logic of trading”: Devenez Trader Pro is among the selection. Read the article.

I have written sixteen op-eds for Atlantico, on Mario Draghi, Bitcoin, the stock-market listing of Fnac and the Nobel Prize in economics. The newspaper introduces me as follows: “Benoist Rousseau is a computer scientist and an economic historian, a graduate of the Université Paris Sorbonne.” Read the op-eds.

In academic work

This is the mention I am proudest of, because nobody asks for it: researchers and students cite Andlil in their theses, dissertations and articles, most often for a definition, sometimes for an analysis. There are more than twenty in the open archives of French research alone.

  • Alexandre Vial, Systèmes d’intelligence artificielle et responsabilité civile (Artificial intelligence systems and civil liability), doctoral thesis in law, Université Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, 2022. He cites my article on high-frequency trading and notes that “this author warns of the various risks of high-frequency trading”. He spells my name with one t too many; I forgive him. Read the thesis.
  • Noureddine Abdelbaki, Rajae Sabhi and Soumaya Outellou, “The impact of psychological factors on financial behaviour: a systematic literature review”, Revue Française d’Économie et de Gestion, 2023: Andlil’s article on Kahneman and Tversky’s prospect theory in a footnote. The same authors cite it again the same year in the International Journal of Accounting, Finance, Auditing, Management and Economics. Read the article.
  • Chuberlin Léandre Ndong Emane, Le pétrole de l’Afrique subsaharienne : un enjeu stratégique dans la genèse de l’industrie pétrolière publique française (1928-1977) (Sub-Saharan African oil and the birth of the French public oil industry), doctoral thesis in history, Sorbonne Université, 2023: the definition of capitalism published on Andlil. Read the thesis.
  • Zahi Riachy, La gestion des crises financières et budgétaires des États membres par le droit de l’Union européenne (The management of Member States’ financial and budgetary crises under European Union law), doctoral thesis in law, Université Côte d’Azur, 2017: the definition of a bank run, listed among the “Encyclopaedias, glossaries and lexicons”. Read the thesis.
  • Étienne Joubert, Supply-chain et organisation de la prise en charge de l’urgence sanitaire (Supply chain and the organisation of emergency healthcare), doctoral thesis in management, Université Paris-Dauphine, 2015: the Markowitz curve, borrowed from Andlil and applied to emergency healthcare. Read the thesis.
  • Césaire Mbima, Inégalités de revenus des ménages ruraux à Madagascar (Income inequality among rural households in Madagascar), doctoral thesis in economics, Normandie Université, 2017: the definition of diminishing returns. Read the thesis.
  • Juliette Dupart, master’s dissertation, Université de Rouen Normandie, 2024: my article on what the author, the publisher and the bookseller earn from the price of a book, reproduced with its diagram. Read the dissertation.

The forum, too, has had its learned readers, and not where one would expect them: a study on antibiotic resistance, published in 2025 in JMIR Formative Research, counts Andlil among the 46 French-language sources whose posts it analysed, from 2014 to 2020. So traders also talk about their health. Read the study.

And the readers

That leaves those whose opinion matters most, the readers themselves: nearly 600 reviews on Trustpilot, more than 4,000 ratings of Devenez Trader Pro on Amazon, with an average of 4.6 out of 5, and more than 200 reviews at Fnac, with a rating of 5 out of 5.

Have you written about Andlil, cited one of its articles in your work, or had me on your programme? Write to me: I will add it here, with the link.
