Prices of precious metals rose on Wednesday after Chile called off the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit due to widespread protests currently going on across the country, putting in danger the signing of the "phase one" trade agreement between the United States and China.
Gold was up 0.46% at 1:35 pm ET, to sell for $1,494.54. A minute later, the price of an ounce of silver rose 0.34% against the dollar to go for 17.87, while the platinum increased 0.32% to $924.23. Palladium surged 2.04% at 1:37 pm ET, bringing a price of an ounce to $1,817.74.
